Toyota Repair: 90 4-Runner 4x4 3vze auto, dish soap, key stuck in ignition

Question
Ted, 90 4 runner 3vze auto stuck in park in driveway also key stuck in ignition. After reading @ 26 pgs of answers, I've checked and have brake lights and that's it. Truck runs fine, brake light works, I don't hear that familiar "click" after I step on the brakes, and key will only come out of ignition if you disconnect battery. Thank you in advance for your help, Joseph.

Answer
This is a key interlock system problem, there is a small cover just in front of the shifter that can be popped out to access the shift interlock override button, depress the button with a small screwdriver theis will allow you to shift out of park without disconnecting the battery everytime, the problem is probaly caused by a sticking shift interlock solenoid inside the shift console, in most cases this is caused by some liquids(soft drinks, coffee) that have been spilled into the console, this will cause the solenoid linkages to stick, try removing the top cover of the console and spray a solution of dish soap and water on the moving parts, this will normally free them up and return things to normal.
