Toyota Repair: camry smoke, cold start, fuel injector

Question
86 camry - I know it needs a full tune up, but what causes black smoke frome the tailpipe, or should the tune-up take care of it?

Answer
Black smoke is caused by too much fuel and not enough air going into the engine, the engine is running in a rich condition, a tune up may not solve the problem there may be som other cause, possibly a leaking fuel injector or cold start injector, on a 21 year old car it could be a lot of different things including a bad engine control unit or wiring problem, while doing the tune up have the engine compression tested to make sure there is not a problem of compression loss. I would recommend having a shop that knows how to diagnose these symptoms check it.
