Volvo: AC issue 1995 turbo 850, radiator fan, temp sensor

Question
I found this previous question, and subsoquent answer, but I have one more quetion:
The trouble is, when my car has been sitting for some time (>60 minutes or so) the A/C system works perfectly.  Then, after a few minutes, the system shuts the compressor off, and won't turn it back on until the car sits for a while more.  This leads me to believe that it is heat related, but it also happens during the cooler months.  Now, in diagnosing this myself, and finding myself stumped, when I turn the A/C switch off, the engine's idle speed lowers as it's supposed to.  And when I turn it back on, the idle speed raises again and the radiator fan comes on (if it's warm).  Which leads me to believe that it's a computer/control problem or something.  Please help me.

You suggested by passing the temp sensor, how do I do that?

Answer
Dan,
Test to see if power is getting to the compressor when this happens. Look at the wiring to the compressor and see if there is a temp sensor in the compressor, if there is reroute the wires around the sensor as that is sometimes the problem. The sensor goes bad and shuts off the power to the compressor. Rewirng around the compressor has been common. If the power is flowing to the compressor and still will not engage then and after the sensor has been taken out of the system then the compresssor is at fault.
