Toyota Repair: toyota, toyota 4x4, battery check

Question
I have a 1979 toyota 4x4 with an electrical problem.  truck runs entirely on battery, I have replaced a few alternators and within a week or so I take them back to the shop and they are bad, I just replaced alternator again and replaced voltage regulator but it still drains battery and stops running when I disconnect battery, all the wiring seems to be fine, any ideas

Answer
The alternator is not the problem, the battery is not being charged, on these models they used fusible wire connected to the positive side of the battery, check these for a possible open circuit, you may have to cut the insulation open to check the wires with an ohm meter for continuity, check the big electrical connector on the alternator to see if there are 12 volts to it, if not check the fusible wires.
