Toyota Repair: Brake problem, rear shoes, calipers

Question
I have a 1996 Corolla (non ABS), auto trans with 140,000 kilometers. I have replaced the front pads, rear shoes, bleeder valves and master cylinder. I cannot get a good brake pedal without one or two pumps. The rear shoes are properly adjusted and the system has been bled several times with no indication of air. The pedal goes to the floor on the first brake application but comes back to the top with several pumps of the pedal. I'm stumped, do you have any advice? Thanks for your anticipated reply.

Answer
I have seen this problem caused by sticking front caliper pins, this model uses floating calipers that move on pins as the pads wear down, if the pins are rusted or stuck it will cause a low brake pedal, remove the calipers from the brackets and make sure the calipers can slide feely on the pins, if not remove them and free them up and lubricate them.
