Toyota Repair: 2000 Toyota Camry (4 cylinder), valve cover gasket, vacuum hoses

Question
My rpm meter constantly moves up and down when I brake. The car acts as if it wants to cut off, and sometimes it does. I have no idea where to start.

Answer
It sounds to me like you have a vacuum leak somewhere. The most cost effective approach to this is the 'ol eyeball. Look around at all the little black vacuum hoses under the hood and make sure they are all connected. Specifically, if you know where you put your brake fluid in, that big circular thing connected to it should have a black vacuum hose connected to it. This can easily come off when pressure washing your engine off, or putting on a new valve cover gasket. Let me know what you find.
