Toyota Repair: Sparkplugs change 22 RE engine, crank pulley, hc emissions

Question
My '89 pickup has 155,000 miles and my brother from whom I bought it says he has never had the valves adjusted and can't remember when he had the sparkplugs changed.

QUESTIONS

I'm worried about removing the plugs. Never removed plugs from an aluminum head; used to 327 Chevies and 318 MOPARS.

Engine warm or cold? I have heard of technique of moving in the tightening direction first before attempting to unscrew the plugs. How about Liquid wrench or PB Blaster etc.? I have the factory manuals, and no mention of anything special regarding removal or installation of the plugs.

Use anti-seize on the threads when installing new plugs?

Maybe I worry too much. Concern about loosening the crank pulley screw caused me to procrastinate on changing the timing chain for a year. Considered each start a $2,000 gamble--is it going to break this time? Turned out just a moderate pull on a 25" handle and socket w/the trans in 5th and e-brake applied loosened the crank screw.

I passed your answer from a while back about failing idle HC emissions on 350,000 mile truck and he took it in and they confirmed needed ignition tuneup w/new parts. Also tried to sell him an overhaul, but passed w/flying colors w/ just the tuneup . Good to go for 2 yrs an saved another oldie from the junkyard. Thanks!!!

Answer
There is nothing special about removing the spark plugs, if they all come out clean just reinstall the new ones and use some antiseize, liqius wrench etc is not needed, just remove them. the only time there is a problem is if someone changed them before and stripped or crossthreaded them.
