Mitsubishi Repair: 01 eclipse been sitting, battery cables, distributor cap

Question
I am trying to get my 01 eclipse gs back into running condition (if possible) w/out spending every dime I own.  I just got a brand new batt. and it was a positive step for me, now I need to know where to go next.  The car sounds like it wants to turn over but its not quite there.  What should be my next step in fixing my BABY.

Answer
Ebony: What was the car doing before you decided to put a new battery in it? I mean why did it need that battery? How about checking the battery cables and also the starter. Does the car turn over fast or does it sound very slow? The car before you replaced the battery was dead? In that you got nothing when you turned the key on or what? To get your car running well the engine, you need three things stark, air and fuel. The battery turns the starter, which then turns the engine till it gets going. So that is why I said maybe your starter is bad. When is the last time you did a tune up on your car? Stark plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor. Got a friend maybe they could do that for you and you could buy the parts. Other wise take it to a shop, but of course it will not start. Oh well ok, have a friend look at it and maybe they would be able to tell you what was wrong. I can only give you ideas. But it is hard as I have no idea what the car was doing before you decided to put that new battery in it. So let me know. Hope this helps and good luck!
