Toyota Repair: 1990 Toyota Camry Transmission, 1990 toyota camry, toyota camry

Question
Ok, well, I need some help on my 1990 Toyota Camry, the problem is that it will NOT go in reverse whatsoever, I put it in reverse and it does nothing, My Uncle(who is a mechanic) guessed it might be the soleniod or something, so would I need a new soleniod or another part, and how do you put that part in..He knows how to take a transmission out of any car, just that I think he would need to know HOW to put that new part(maybe soleniod, if it is) in, so to re-cap what I just said to make sure I got everything is. One, what part might I need to buy and Two, how might I go putting in that part in the transmission(if AT ALL, the trans. needs to be taken out to do this)

Thank You for any Information and Help given.

Answer
If the solenoid was dead, you'd have a stored code in the system (Flashing O/D light) & you'd be missing forward gears. It's not the solenoid.
For solenoids, you drop the valve body & replace them ontop of the valve body.

Once you get passed flushing the fluid out & checking the line pressure itself. Probably need to take the car somewhere to have it looked at.
