Toyota Repair: vacume advance, denso plugs, combustion chambers

Question
I recently put a new 4af in my 88 corolla and cant seem to get the advance correct. The way i have it connected at the moment causes it to start pinking at about 3500/4000rpm and above. When i disconect all hoses the problem stops but of course so does the advance.can you help?

Answer
Check that there is the correct amount of advance as the rpm & vacuum change.
Decarb the thing with something like Seafoam, or water injection. Probably alot of carbon in the combustion chambers of that old engine that's not helping you.
Make sure the plugs are the specified NGK, or Denso plugs in the specified heat range also.
