Toyota Repair: Battery light, toyota corolla, temp solution

Question
Hello.
I have a 96 toyota corolla and I'm having a problem with the battery.  About a year ago, my car battery died out on me.  The person that replaced my battery replaced it with a used battery with side posts and had to change the top posts connection I initially had.  This was a temp solution. However, I never took care of it and a year later the battery died out again and I replaced it with a new one, but since I had side post connections, I replaced it with a much smaller battery.  This battery lasted me two months.  To make a long story short, I finally had the battery posts changed back to the original top posts and a another battery.  However, my battery light is still popping up.  I had my alternator checked and I was told it was fine.  I don't know what else to do. One other thing my engine light has been on for about 7months if that helps!

Answer
It still sounds like the alternator is not charging the battery, it may test ok at the time but under actual conditions it may be failing. My recommendation would be to replace the alternator. The check engine light is of another concern, try to locate an autozone store they can check the diagnostic trouble code for you at no charge, then you can let me know what they find.
