Toyota Repair: code 71, coolant temp, engine coolant


Question
Hi, I have 1994 California Emissions Corolla 1.8L, Automatic Trans and have the code 71 on it, other thing that is doing is when you step on the gas, is feels like a little miss firing, hesitation, the cars runs fine and have power, i check and tells me that it could be a few thing with the EGR system, what do you recommends to check or change on it? thanks for all your help.... I would suspect a stuck egr valve.
Here is the repair manual info for that code:

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
EGR gas temp. is 60C (140F) or below for 50
sec. under conditions (a) and (b).
(2 trip detection logic) *
(a) Engine coolant temp.: 60C (140F) or more:
(b) EGR operation possible (EX. A/T in 3rd
speed (5th for M /T), 55 - 60 mph
(88 - 96 km/h), Flat road).
• Open in EGR gas temp. sensor circuit.
• Open or short in VSV circuit for EGR.
• EGR hose disconnected, valve stuck.
• Clogged EGR gas passage.
• ECM
