Toyota Repair: 92 Corolla Drive Side door cannot open, corolla seca, othen

Question
Hi,it seems my 92 Corolla seca's drive side door lock is damaged and cannot open from inside or even with the key from outside. One locksimith had a look and said he cannot change the lock if the door cannot open. Any way to solve this problem othen than cut the door open?
Thanks & Best Regards

Answer
He's sorta right. By the time you struggle to get the interior trim off without destroying it & then realise the door lock is in a big square of metal so it can't be easily tampered with.
Yeah... You wind up replacing the door anyway.

So you would normally just cut the door off & repalce it. Especially on an older vehicle where buying a used door is signifigantly less expencive than chancing the possibility of wasting labor on trying to save one.
