Toyota Repair: Toyota Celica 1990 ST Automatic wont start, toyota celica 1990, pulley system

Question
First my pulley system became loose and my belt to the alternator snapped. For me to start my car I purchased a new battery. This was in January 2006 in Wisconsin.I than had to leave overseas. I have returned in November 2006 and tried jumping my car and I also charged my battery. It won't start. There is a 1/4 of gas in the tank. I just need to get it to the shop. What can I do so I don't have to pay to tow?

Answer
Well. I'd ditch the old gas to start with! I'm assuming it will crank (That means turn over) it just won't start running.
Start by shorting TE1 & E1 in a DIAGNOSTIC port & turning the key to ON. The check engine light should have a quick, steady blinking.
From there it takes spark + fuel + compression & it all has to happen at the right time. Make sure you've got spark & that when in diagnostic mode (TE & E1 shorted) it sparks @ 10*btdc.
Make sure it's injecting fuel
& make sure there is good compression.

That's what you do when they don't start. :) Now did you mean don't start, or won't crank?
