Toyota Repair: Funny odor in 2001 Toyota Sienna, mold problem, vent system

Question
Hi Brandon.  I live in SE Michigan and have a 2001 Sienna.  For about 2-3 months now I've noticed a chemically-smelling odor (something like burnt leaves, maybe kind of a musty smell) when I first get in the van.  After a minute or two I don't smell it anymore.  My wife (with asthma and allergic to mold) says it makes her weezy.  Could the A/C possibly be contaminated?  Ever hear of something like this from other Sienna owners?  Thanks!

Answer
Yes, any vent system can become contaminated with mold. It is also quite hazardous to your health.
Kill the mold with cleaners / disinfectants.
Once the mold is removed, you can install a in-cabin filter in the center console. (Pull back the carpet on the drivers side & pull off the plastic gaurd.)
DO NOT just put a filter in without curing a mold problem. *Solve* problems. Not cover them up. (Especially with health issues.)

Depends on the smell. It could be something like the cat converter.
