Toyota Repair: TOYOTA CSI 1994 Engine Oil Leaks from Timing Cover, Rocker cover, engine oil leaks, toyota service

Question
HI,

I got my car serviced cople of weeks ago and mechanic told me that my car has oil leaks from Timing Cover,Rocker Cover and Distributor which has to be fix as soon as possible.

Could you please tell me what cause this type of leaks and how much it would cost approximately?

I enquierd at TOYOTA service centre and they advised me around $500 + any extra cost if need to replace timing belt.

Thanks in advance,

Cheers,

Jay

Answer
It's leaking because all rubber seals eventually fail. The timing belt will add about $50-75 more to the cost, along with $90-120 for the water pump, (and coolant). Another hour, or two of labor.

If they're saying oil leaks into the timing belt cover. Then the camshaft oil seal will also be changed -> which brings up the timing belt / water pump change. There's no point in going to the trouble of ever taking the timing belt cover off & not changing the belt/pump if it's not been done recently.
