Question1999 toyota rav 4, 1.8L automatic, 87,362.
There is a intermittent problem with starting the car. When I try to start the car after driving it all day, I run into a problem. It sounds like it wants to start, but fails. The only way to get it to start is to hit the gas. That helps it to start. It starts fine in the cold.
Any suggestions?
Answersounds like an idle air valve malfuntion.
Its located under the throttle body.
you can take the large black throttle hose off and clean it thru the small hole inside the housing, but it will probably need replacement.
Do you have any check engine codes?
