Toyota Repair: Corolla 2001 CE, power door locks, phillips screws

Question
Hi Ted, I spent time srfing for answers and then saw your site. Thought it was good stuff so posting my questions. Please advice.

When I pressed brakes today morning (a bit moisture in the air as winters are approaching) the pedal got stuck and dint return back and battery and oil lights came up. I could not use the brakes (scary..) and lost power. I had to restart and gained back the brake pedal (it got loose and play returned back). Know what had happened? The booster looks right I tested it based on my Hayes manual.

How to change/replace dashboard bulb (on speedometer)? can you provide details on screws to unscrew etc. Two of my bulbs went off one by one. Btw I know thats its a bulb problem as dimming of other bubls work fine. So I dont think its fuse or rhemoter problem.
3.
How to unlock back seat while unlocking driver door? Is it possible ? I have to put my hand from inside of driver side to unlock passenger side.? Is this standard ? Someone told me you can open back door to by jerking a bit but that dint work.

Answer
It sounds to me that you lost braking assist because the engine died/stalled or there is a vacuum leak in the brake booster, this will also cause the loss of brake pedal assist and can cause the engine to stall.
There are two phillips screws on the instrument cluster on the bezel on the top, remove them and pull to cover around the cluster off there are four more screws holding the speedo cluster in pull the cluster foreward and disconnect the electrical connectors, the bulbs can be removed from the back.
3.  This only works if the car has power door locks.
