Toyota Repair: brake maintenance-2003 Camry XLE, rear rotors, rear brakes

Question
I was told by my Toyota Service Dept that it is recommended to
change the rotors every time when getting my brake pads changed
because the rotors are made thinner now and can't be turned
down. The rear brakes were just done at 36000 miles and I was
told the front ones were good for another 10000 miles. Am I
getting good advice on the rotors?
Thanks in advance

Answer
NO, Thats a bunch of crap, in plain english.
They want to make more money from you.

The opposite is actually true. Toyota is making the rotors larger and thicker for better heat disipation. Its been a problem for Toyota and other manufacturers. If you have a pedal pulsation problem it may be under warranty. 3/36 I think.
They didnt tell you that, did they?

Mileage is a different issue. Some people get 15K miles out of a set of pads, others get 45K. It depends on your driving habits.

If you paid for new rear rotors at 36,000 miles you got taken for a ride.
Contact Toyotas 800 number in the back of your owners manual and demand a refund. Tell them you wont buy another Toyota. (That always does the trick) And let them know youll surely feel free to spread the word that you got taken at a TOYOTA  dealer.
