Toyota Repair: 94 toyota pickup exhaust glowing, air fuel mixture, fuel air mixture

Question
The manifold on my truck has started glowing orange, and I have lost a lot of power also and is Idleing very low.  It seems to back fire a little when the engine Rpm drops.  What may be the cause for all this?  It has happened all of a sudden.  Thank you

Answer
For some reason the engine is running way too rich and the excess fuel is being combusted in the exhaust pipe before the catalityc converter, this can be caused by an exhaust leak, the leak will cause the air/fuel mixture to become rich, the extra fuel can't be used by the engine so it puts it into the exhaust, the extra air pulled in from the exhaust leak and the heat creates the combustion of fuel in the pipe. The oxygen sensor sees a lean condition and commands the computer to go full rich, this combination can cause the condition you have. Look for an exhaust leak or a reason why the engine is running too rich but remember a rich fuel air mixture by itself won't cause the glowing pipe,it will cause black smoke out the tailpipe, it needs lots of air to do this, so there has to be some kind of air leak in the exhaust.
