Toyota Repair: replace fuel filter, fuel filler cap, haynes repair manual

toyota camry 2000 4cyl.  I bought a fuel filter and wanting to know how to replace it.  I read the Haynes Repair Manual it's really confusing.  I have to release pressure in the fuel line but when I read the toyota manual it tell me to disconnect the neg. on the battery and break the bolts and the line on the fuel filter.  Any advice on how to do this?

They tell you to remove the battery for safety reasons, also remove the fuel filler cap to release the pressure in the tank and lines, remove the entire air filter housing to get access to the filter, remove the top fitting and then the bottom 14mm size fitting, these can be tight so a 14mm line wrench would be best to use, once both the in and out fittings are disconnected remove the 10mm mounting bolts.
