QuestionI have a 2000 previa van, 77 K, the low oil light came on one day by surprise, when my wife was driving, we immediately changed the oil and filter, but it is smoking on start up and when accelerating. No drivability problems, starts, runs great, it just smokes, A LOT on start up, and during acceleration. No sure if it is using oil, as haven't driven it very far since oil change. My mechaning (independant) said to see if it was using oil. ?
AnswerMost of the time smoking at startup is caused by leaking valve seals but after starting the oil smoke should stop, does the engine smoke even after startup and driving for a while, all the time when accelerating, if that's the case there may be a piston or oil control ring problem.
