I have 45,000 miles on my 2002 Toyota Camry SE 4 cyl. and really didn't expect air conditioner problems. The air conditioner stays on all the time if I have the fan going. The button won't release to be able to use just the vent. Any idea what could be wrong? Could there be a manufacturer issue?

The AC should come on with the button or with the defroster on.
It sounds like you need a new AC switch.

Your probably just out of warranty.
You could always ask, they have an allowance for
"good will" repairs at the dealer for situations like yours.
So they can keep customers buying there product.
