Toyota Repair: 2002 Toyota Tacoma maintenance, toyota tacoma, auto transmission

Question
Hi Mike,
My 2002 Toyota Tacoma X-Cab is coming up on 30,000 miles. I bought it new and have always taken it to the dealer for scheduled maintenance and oil changes every 3,000 miles.
I stopped by the dealership to have the 30,000 mile maintenance done and the service guy recommended in addition to what is listed in the guide, having the radiator, auto transmission and power steering flushed out and replaced for an additional $500. Is this extra stuff really necessary and why wouldn't Toyota recommend it?
I feel like I might have the "sucker" sign out. What do you think?
Thanks for any help.

Answer
Check your owners manual.

The Trans, is it manual or Auto?
If Auto, does it take Type T fluid,
(Type T is long-life ATF)says so on the dipstick,
(read that)shoul be ok till 60K.
If it has LLC (Long Life Coolant)coolant then its due, SLLC (Super Long Life)is good for 100K.
The PS fluid should be fine till 60K.

The stuff they suggested surely wont hurt it, but do you need it?
Will they actually do it? If the fluids are clean and they sell you a flush, how do you tell if its been done? you cant.
Sounds like the old "wallet flush"
Go by the owners manual. NOT the guide printed by the dealer.Sounds like oversell to me.
