Toyota Repair: broken front wheel stud on a 05 Tundra 4 wheel drive, air impact wrench, rotor hub

Question
Hi. I would like to know what is involved in changing a front wheel stud on a 05 Tundra 4 wheel drive. I have one broken one. I also would like to know if this could be under warrenty  I have 2 years left on the warrenty.  Thanks Jim

Answer
Check with the toyota dealer if this may be covered under the warranty, if not the rotor and brake caliper have to be removed, then the broken stud can be hammered out, line it up with the cutout on the spindle and it will come out through there, the new stud will have to be pulled through from the front by using a spacer and temporarely installing a lug nut and turning it until the stud is tight against the rotor hub, we use an air impact wrench to do this, I don't know of any way to do this otherwise without disassembling the hub and hammering the studs in from behind.
