Toyota Repair: rpms too high, toyota celica gts, compressor clutch

Question
I have a 1984 toyota celica GTS with the 22RE  fuel injected engine, 190,000 miles. it's a standard trans. It idles at 1200 rpms at idle, it seems too fast. The A/C used to blow cool a few weeks ago, when I put on the A/C the RPMS used to go to a normal range of  about 800 rpms at idle rpms. So I was turning on the A/C to lower the RPMs, of course mostly when it was warm out, now the A/C quit blowing cold and I need to adjust the RPMs. I used black grease on the A/C clutch area because it was squeeking, probably a bad idea but the squeeking stopped and now the pump clutch quit working as well. How do I adjust the RPMs, and if I degrease my A/C clutch do you think it will return to normal ?

Answer
There never should be any grease applied to the compressor clutch but anyway I think that there is a problem with the A/C compressor which needs to be addressed first, the compressor clutch may be seized or the compressor itself which would explain the drop in the rpms, normally when the compressor turns on there should be an increase of the idle speed to about 1000 rpm.
