Toyota Repair: Check Engine Light, tick tick tick, trd supercharger

Question
kk, i have a 2003 4 dr Tacoma V6, 18000 miles, auto trans.  It has a TRD supercharger, headers and exhaust. I bought it 2 weeks ago from a used car dealer and took it to our local Toyota service center where it got a clean bill of health.

This afternoon, i was on the freeway and stomped the gas to make a pass.  You know how the engine hesitates sometimes when you do that?  Well it never stopped hesitating.  A few seconds later the engine light started blinking then came on solid.  I continued to the next area of the freeway with a shoulder and noticed a very loud hissing noise with associated loss of power and was unable to get over 50 mph without the engine bogging down again.  It idles fine but cant do anything with a load without the bogging.

Before this, when stomping on the gas it would hesitate making a tick tick tick noise, then take off like no one's business.  I'm not usually that kind of driver but wanted to test it before i signed the papers.  Well the papers are signed after i got the clean bill of health from Toyota.  So now i'm wondering what the problem sounds like to you and, more importantly, how expensive it sounds to you.

Pls advise.  TIA, John.

Answer
The only thing that will cause the check engine light to flash is severe misfire.
Check the ecu for codes.
They should scan it for you for free since it was just there.
The hissing could be a clogged ca, or exhaust.
Put your hand over the tail pipe with a rag and see if it seems restricted.
