Toyota Repair: toyota four runner speedometer fault, vehicle speed sensor, toyota four runner

i have a 1992 four runner 3ltr. v6 automatic.the speedometer will stop working for no apparent reason,sometimes the check engine light will come on.if in cruise control when speedometer stops the cruise light and o/d light will flash.slowing doun and shifting into h4 and then back to h2 will restore speedometer operation and extinguish  all lights.the  fault code sometimes indicates loss of speed sensor signal.
can you help?

Without knowing what the trouble code is in the computer I'll have to take my best guess and recommend that you try replacing the vehicle speed sensor located on the left side of the transmission towards the rear, it has one 12mm size bolt connecting it and an electrical connector.
