Question
1989 4Runner SR5.  Just bought Toyota 1 1/2 months ago.
about three weeks ago all windows(including back) stopped working, now the back is working but still the front two are not working. Have checked power in circut breaker area and all fuses look good.  what else can i do? I was told to switch the relay for the windows with a/c but I didn't feel to good about doing so, I didn't. it's getting hot in the black beast.  Sincerely, gennifer pray

Answer
How many miles on it?
The back window you refer to, is that they tailgate or the rear side window?

There is a part # on most relays. Toyota commonly has several of the same in the vehicle , so if they are the same part # swap away, no worries.
Seems funny that they didnt work, then started working again.
I have seen the harness in the door jams break on some models with high miles. They just wear out.
Try to "massage" the harness in the door jam as you operate the window switch. It you have a broken wire you may get a momentary movement. Then you can go that route.

Also check all the fuses for a tight fit. If someone had a wire tapped into a fuse socket, that may make the fuse move and loose contact.
