Toyota Repair: 93 Camry v6 stumbles on acceleration, fuel pressure regulators, fuel pressure regulator

Question
I have a 93 camry le v6 auto. trans. I have put new plugs, wires, dist.cap, rotor, air filter, fuel filter, oil and filter, changed trans fluid. My problem is when I accelerate from a complete stop the engine stumbles. If I am just slowing down for a turn or traffic, it accelerates just fine.
I am finding myself not coming to a complete stop at stop signs and just kind of slowing down so I don't have to deal with the stumbling.
It was so bad last night it reminded me of when a kid is trying to learn to drive a stick and lurches.
If I put it in drive and hold the brake while pushing the accelerater it sounds and feels like I am pumping the gas, when I'm just holding it steady. It is just fine in reverse.
What should I check next? After reading my Haynes I was leaning towards the fuel pressure regulator.
Thanks in advance...Felicia

Answer
Low fuel pressure at idle can certainly cause that symptom.
I have seen bad fuel pressure regulators.
I have also seen a bad TPS cause that also.
Any pending or current codes in the ECU?

Also check the corrigated black rubber intake tube. It could be drawing in "unmetered air".
A small crack can open up as the engine torques up on accelleration. That may account for why its fine in reverse as the engine would torque in the oposite direction and seal the leak.
