I thought I answered this question yesterday so if this is a duplicate answer, my apologies.
The ignition coil is located in the distributor, when the distributor was replaced was the coil also replaced or was the old coil reused? If so, try replacing the coil. Follow up answer the coil is new and no alarm system. And I apologize the Question was sent twice by mistake..
Answer -
Thank you, did what I recommended help? No, the coil was replaced at the same time as the distributor and there is no alarm system..any other ideas would be really be appreciated as I 'm at the end of my rope.

Answer
Locate the data link connector under the hood, find the white/red wire going to the dlc and check to see that it has battery voltage with the key on.
Check the igniton 7.5A fuse, make sure it is intact and also has battery voltage across it. It seems that either the ignition switch is not getting 12 volts or the problem is past the switch, possibly a connector or wire problem. There are two wires going to the ignition switch, one is white/red and the other one is white, both should have 12 volts supplying the switch, if not check the 80A alternator, the 40A AM1, the 30A AM2 fuses under the hood, these are much bigger than the regular fuses and have a clear plastic cover on them. Let me know if any of this helps.
