Question1994 Corolla, 72000 miles, 1.6L 3-spd automatic. Just bought it and am getting about 18 mpg. Replaced air filter, transmission fluid, oil and filter. What is involved in a full tune-up for this car?
AnswerI would recommend replacing the spark plugs, the plug wires and the distributor cap and the rotor. Doing this would only help mileage if the engine had some misfires, there may be other problems for the low mileage figure.
But most of the time it is related to some problem with the engine, is there a misfire, does the engine run rough at idle or when accelerating and does the power of the engine seem normal?
