Toyota Repair: Toyota Camry Power Window, phillips screws, toyota camry

Question
Hi Ted

Re: 1996 Toyota Camry DX- 4Dr Coupe

I am having problems with the power window on the drivers side front door. The window will go down fine, but then will not come back up. After I wait a while and the car warms up, I will try again and the window will work. The problem is intermittment. Also, I tried to silicone lube the window tracks but that did not help.

Could it be in the window switch or motor? I am hoping there is an easy way for the home mechanic to troubleshoot. Also, when removing the door panel, how do I get the two clips out on the back of the panel? Are they a push and pull type of clip?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
The most common problem is the window motor, the switch will not cause an intermittent problem it either works or not so I recommend replacing the power window motor, the door panel is held on with about three large phillips screws , two are in the arm rest and one may be under the small clearance lamp and there may be a small one in the inner door handle bezel the rest is held on with plastic clips.
