Land Rover Repair: Air Pockets, land rover discovery, radiator cap

Question
Land Rover, Discovery, 1995, 3.9, gas...     I have got air bubbles in my cooling system... I have changed the themostat, the water pump is fine, and the hoses are ok. but it still overheats... I have listened for the bubbles and have narrowed it down to that... What is the best way to get the bubbles out, is their something on the head I can un screw to let the air out of the head? Or do I just have to put it up on blocks and take the radiator cap off and hope for the air to rise?? Please let me know

Answer
Hi Clifton,

I hope you don't have a headgasket failure.

Open the reservoir cap and run the engine for a few minutes to get it to normal operating temperature. This should all the air to escape.  10 minutes max ... and watch the reservoir level..don't let it drop below normal.

Best of luck,
