Toyota Repair: Toyota Camry heater fan does not work, zero volts, toyota camry

Question
Hello,

We have 1990 Camry STW automatic with about 300 000 miles on
it. This morning we had to jump start it and after that we found
that the heater fan is not working any more. Could the jump
starting have damaged the fuses even if the fan was not working. I
found 3 fuses/relays that had the label fan on it under the hood
next to the battery. Which one should I replace? The fan motor was
replaced last year.

Answer
No fuses should blow when jump starting a car unless the jumper battery was connected backwards, in that case I would recommend checking all the fuses including the ones inside in the left kick panel.
They can be checked without removing them with an ohm meter with the battery disconnected or they can be checked with a test lamp with thekey in the on position, there should be 12 volts to both sides of all affected fuses, the ones that are at zero volts on both sides can be ignored for this test if there are any that show voltage at one side but not the other those are the ones that need to be replaced.
