Motorcycle Repair: center stand use, grab rail, rear tire

Question
Dear Mark, I have a kz1000p which I am going to change the rear tire on. Unfortunately I have never used a center stand. Can you provide some pointers so that I don't drop the bike or kill myself. Thanks

Answer
Hey Jack,

To bring MC onto center stand:
Standing on the left side of the MC, gently step on the center stand's foot pad to bring it to the ground. Ensure that both legs of the stand are on the ground.

Hold the left handle grip with your left hand, and another rear grab rail or frame with your right hand.

Using your legs, firmly step on the centerstand foot pad to lift the MC up. The stands legs have cam like pads and will roll up into the lifted position. Use your right hand to assist with lifting if necessary.

To Bring down off center stand:
I mount the MC as if rinding. Rock it forwards and off the stand. Be sure side stand is up. Be prepared to use front brake lever to limit rolling.
