Toyota Repair: 95 Toyota 4-Runner will not start, toyota 4 runner, fuel leak

Question
Hi Ted,
My '95 v-6 4-Runner with 214000 miles won't start. A month ago it began a noticible jerking when decelerating from 50mph down to 40, then would go away.  At the same time, about once a week, I would go to start it and it would just click. Try again and it fired right up. I thought it was because my key was worn.  Now it just clicks on 30 tries and then will try to start, but won't keep running when I let go of the key. My battery is charged. Temps are below freezing. I have checked the fuses under the hood and inside driver's door, cleaned battery terminals, and bought new plugs (but haven't put them in--it's cold and they are a pain to get to!). I've read lots of other forums suggesting; plugs, spark plug cables, solenoid, etc.  Any help will be appreciated. I'm sick of being without my truck.
Thanks, Sheryl
p.s. Fuel seems to be leaking (very small amount) from a saucer shaped part just behind and 6" to the right of the battery.

Answer
There are two possible problems, one of them I'm very sure of, the starter seems to be the problem of the no crank condition and the clicking noise.
The engine not staying running after starting is a little more difficult to diagnose, I'm not sure what the fuel leak is from your description but any fuel leak needs to be fixed regardless.
The no run condition could be caused by a bad ignition switch but this is not common.
I would recommend replacing the starter and fixing the fuel leak and see if there is an improvement. If the engine still fails to keep running have the fuel pressure tested.
