Toyota Repair: Key wont turn in ignition switch, steering wheel lock, warranty work

Question
I LOVE my new 2005 RAV4 4X4, which I've only had for  6 days now, EXCEPT...when I wanted to drive it to work this morning, after the key was completely inserted into the ignition switch, it wouldn't turn! I tried quite a few times to turn it, and even tried the extra spare key, but it still wouldn't turn.  What can I do?  A co-worker of mine said that when starting these newer cars, as a safety feature, the wheels must be pointing straight ahead to get the key to turn in the ignition?!!  Have you heard of this before? I can't try this advice out until I get home from work later today.  Can you help me with this dilema or will I have to somehow get the vehicle into the repair shop for warranty work?  THANKS!!

Answer
The steering wheel doesn't need to be straight ahead but if it was parked with the steering wheel turned and there was a binding up of the wheels it may take turning the steering wheel a little to the left or right to release the steering wheel lock, this is especially true if it is parked up or downhill with the wheels turned.
If the wheel won't unlock there is no other choice other than to call the dealer and have it towed there to have it fixed under the warranty.
