Toyota Repair: 85 supra, fan clutch, head gasket

Question
hi i have a 85 supracelica. the car runs fine other than..it over heats....the guy i got it from rebuilt the engine...and i noticed there were quite a few bolts loose.i tightened what i could.the carwarms up after about 10-20 mins...and it gets too hot.what could be wrong with it.and yes, it has coolant...also..is it common for the rear axle to whine-moan(i heard it was) if not how do you fix that? we already put the lube in it.

Answer
The most common causes for overheating are a loss of coolant circulation, this can be caused by something simple like a closed thermostat to more complicated issues such as a clogged up radiator, a bad fan clutch, or a leaking head gasket.
Excessive noise from the differential is not normal, since I can't hear the noise I can't have an objective opinion on this noise but the basic rule of thumb is that if the noise is objectionable to you there is probably something wrong, there may be a bad axle bearing or a differential bearing that is going bad. Have it checked for those possibilities.
