Toyota Repair: TOYOTA CAMRY 1984, toyota camry, best guess

1984 TOYOTA CAMRY SE OR LE
Automatic transmission.

I was driving on the freeway, then the CHECK ENGINE light came on.
THEN it just QUIT!
No loud noises or coughs, it just quit.
I stopped and tried to start it. It turned over with no problem but wouldn't start.
No smells of any kind. (gas, oil) and no smoke or vapor.
The engine wasn't HOT.
I know that this is not much to go on.
Could it be the valves?(someone mentioned this)

Without knowing the trouble code that is in the computer I can't be of too much help, my best guess would be that the timing belt may have slipped or broken, the fuel pump malfunctioned or there was aproblem with the distributor which would cause a loss of current to the spark plugs.
