Toyota Repair: 1998 toyota corolla, adjustment knobs, toyota corolla

Question
HOw do you replace the climate control bulbs?  Do you have to take off the face plate?  I hope the whole dash is not involved as the unit is doubled attached on the right.

also is there any other way to replace the shifter bulb without the dash out?  is there a special tool to reach the shifter screw.

To replace the climate control bulbs remove the adjustment knobs and the just pull the face plate off with a small screwdriver, the shift indicator bulb can be replaced by rermoving the center console, it's attached to the bottom of the shifter on the left side.
