Toyota Repair: Camry antenna, antenna mast, antenna assembly

Question
I have a 96 Camry 4dr LE that has a broken electric antenna.  I believe there is a plastic piece that rolls up within the motor that is also missing.  Do I need to buy a new motor to hear "Stairway to Heaven" for the millionth time or can I find replacement parts that will do the trick?

Answer
You don't need to replace the entire antenna assembly to repair this problem but it will require removing the antenna assembly from the car and taking it apart to remove the broken piece of the antenna mast then putting it back together and reinstalling it in the car, then the new antenna mast can be fed in to the motor by first turning the radio on and waiting until the motor stops then turning the radio off and let the new cable assembly pull in.
This is all a little tricky and if you are not comfortable doing this have the toyota dealer do it this may save you some headaches, it's still cheaper than buying a whole new antenna assembly.
