Toyota Repair: engine light, emission control system, toyota camry

Ted:Have a 2000 Toyota Camry. 5S-fe engine, 4 cyl.Check engine light came on.Car has only 36500 on it.What can I do ? What should I be looking for.Car is running fine.Any help on this would be deeply appreciated.Thanking You In Advance BOB

There could be many causes for the check engine light to come on, almost all of them are related to the engine's emission control system.
This engine has an onboard diagnostic system(OBDII) what you need to do is to take it to the toyota dealer and have them hook up the scantool to your on board computer, this will retreive diagnostic trouble codes(DTCs) which will indicate what the problem area may be, unless I have this information I have no idea how to help you.
