Toyota Repair: Toyota PU, toyota 22r, oxygen sensor

Question
Manifold replaced due to exhaust leak in a 1985 Toyota 22R pickup. At home I looked under the hood and saw a new spark plug had been inserted and clamped  to plug up some sort of tube located down on the lower side of the motor on the driver's side. It wasn't there before.  Why would this be done?  By the way the engine sounds and runs the same as it did before it was taken to the repair shop.    Doris

Answer
What you are seeing may be the oxygen sensor in the front exhaust pipe, other than that I have no idea what it may be but I would advise you to take it back to the repair shop and tell them that they didn't fix the problem, better yet, take it to the toyota dealer and have them check it because the place you were dealing with sounds a little shady.
