Toyota Repair: 1990 4 runner start but no run, air flow meter, vacuum leak

Question
I have a  1990 4runner, V6, 5 speed, and it will start every time, but as soon as the initial rpms drop back, the truck dies. I cant keep it running. Not sure if its a fuel problem, air mix problem, electrical, or what. can you help point me in a direction? thanks

Answer
The most common cause is an intake vacuum leak, check the large hoses and connections from the air cleaner to the throttle body to make sure they are connected tight and there are no cracks in the hoses, if that is not the problem there may be a problem with the air flow meter, does the engine run normally other than the idle problem, is there a misfire or check engine light on?
