Toyota Repair: Dashboard, toyatoa, instrument cluster

Good Morning Ted:  I have a 1995 Toyatoa Camry - my ? is: on my dashboard and where I change gears (P - R - D etc) the lights is not working. Can I change this myself without taking the car apart and if I can how do I accomplish this?  Also my engine light is always on they have reset this several times but it still comes on have you any ideas what can be causing this? My car is in perfect working conditions - I keep routine maintenance to the week. I love my car hope to keep it a long time.

It's possible that the indiacator bulbs on the back of the instrument cluster are burned out, remove the instrument cluster and check the bulbs, they are replaceable.
I have no idea why the check engine light keeps coming on, unless you can have it checked for the stored trouble codes and then let me know what they are, then I may be able to help.
