Hi Ted,
I have been reading your forum for a while, I think you do a great job there helping people. I need your expertise for my Toyota camry 3.0L V6 94. It has 160K miles on it and I just bought it.
The check engine light came on a couple of days after I bought it and it stays on now. I took it to Midas and they charged me a lot to tell me that the upstream sensor was faulty($100 !!). I looked up on your forum and a lot of sites and got it changed with a bosch universal O2 sensor. after driving it and shutting the car off when I turned it back on, the light came back on (the codes were erased and the light was off when I took it from the shop). I took it to advanced auto parts and read the codes again and it read out that it is the sensor again. I really dont know what to do and dont have the nerves (or the money)to go to the dealership.
I would like to know the wire codes for the sensor , as it was a universal I wondered if the wires were not connected properly and any suggestions as to what I should do with this problem.
My gas mileage is about 21 in city and highway (half and half mix). Thank you for your time,

I'm going to give you the same reply I give everyone else that asks me about a check engine light on condition "I NEED TO KNOW WHAT THE TROUBLE CODE IS" the wires should be no problem if the connector is attached, it will only connect in one direction, I don't know much about aftermarket parts, try to let me know what the DTC is or was in the past and maybe I can be of more help.

AnswerThank you fopr the additional information, this code refers to the Bank 1 sensor 1 oxygen sensor, the solution is to replace this O2 sensor, it is located in the exhaust manifold next to the firewall, it is a little difficult to get to and requires a special O2 sensor socket. I recommend using the factory OEM part from the toyota dealer.
