Toyota Repair: 94 Camry Rear rotor/ lug screw Replacement, wheel disc brakes, star wheel

Question
Hey Ted thanks for the first reply.
I had a question about the "emergency brake adjustment star wheel".  IS that on the inside of the rotor/drum? I was able to take the whole brake assembly out (calipmer). And as for the black thing in the center, it is made of metal and when I turn it, it also rotates the 5 screws too. I talked to a friend of mine who looked at it. He told me that there is no nut in the middle, and I should get a puller to get the rotor out. IS that true?

Thanks for the help.

I have a 94 camry with 4 wheel disc brakes. I accidentally snapped off one of the five screws for the tire lugs and needed to replace it. I was able to remove the brake assembly and was trying to remove the rear rotor and had problems getting it off. I didn't see a screw for the central axis except this black concave cover type thing. After 15mins of banging and pulling I was still able to get at the screws. I thought the camry was a easy pull off without any other screw holding the rear rotor. I have 4lugs for that wheel right now, but I don't think it is safe to go on that for too long. Please help and give me a step through and links to pics would be great. Thanks

Remove the black rubber plug and locate the emergency brake adjustment star wheel, it's on the bottom of the small brake drum, use a flashlight and rotate the drum until the adjuster opening lines up with the adjuster, rotate the adjuster downward to release the e-brake adjustment, if it still doesn't come off it may be rusted on to the center hub, use some rust penetrant and look for two small threaded holes on the drum, put in two 8mm thread size bolts and tighten them, this will pull the rotor off the hub.

Answer
I'm not sure what the black thing in the middle refers to, unless you mean the bearing cover on the inside of the hub, if so you do not need to remove this unless you are replacing the hub and bearing.
The adjuster wheel to back off the emergency brake shoes is inside the small drum which is part of the rotor.
