Toyota Repair: corolla A/C, thanks norman, corollas

Question
hi ted! i'm just curious about my car's (96 corolla,carbureted,122k mileage) A/C (haven't had any repairs before).

i could really feel when the aircon goes on and off...i mean the car jerks (only when moving) when the A/C starts and stops.plus i could really feel that the rpm's really high when A/C's on...i've tried lowering the rpm (although i don't know exactly what is it's actual rpm right now, my car doesn't have a tach)...somehow it eased the jerking but still i'm not satisfied with it...i mean, i want the jerking gone...what could be causing the problem? does a car's A/C have a control as to how much it can affect the rpm of the engine?

thanks,
norman

Answer
According to the information I have available there were no 1996 Corollas with carburetors, please recheck the year model and give me an engine designation found under the hood on the label, it's possible that you live outside of the US where there may have been carbureted models, if this is the case I can't be of any help because I have no information for them.
