Toyota Repair: ignition problem, toyota corolla sr5, 1986 toyota corolla sr5

Question
I just bought a 1986 toyota corolla sr5 that has not been ran in over a year. The motor turns over fine but will not start.  I am getting fuel to the cylinders but no fire.  I have replaced the coil but still not getting fire. What should I do next.

Answer
There are two very common problem areas, it's either the distributor or the igniter, the most common failure is the distributor, another possible problem is that the timing belt may have broken, remove the distributor cap and see if the rotor moves when cranking the engine.
